During pregnancy, the foods you intake have a special role in supplying nutrients to the baby. So you should be very careful about taking food items.

In this article, we are going to see the foods that should be avoided during pregnancy. These foods can lead to severe effects on pregnant women.

Eggs

Raw eggs and half-boiled eggs should not be eaten during pregnancy. Raw eggs can enhance your body heat which is not healthy for pregnant ladies.

It also has a risk of containing salmonella that will cause vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal cramps. It can be taken as boiled or by preparing an omelet.

Tamarind

Tamarind is full of vitamin C. This vitamin will decrease the level of progesterone in your body. The decrease in the level of progesterone can lead to miscarriage. So you should avoid taking tamarind during your first trimester.

Fish During Pregnancy

Fish should be completely cooked. You should only eat selective fishes. Fish with high mercury content should be avoided during the gestation period.

It can affect babies‘ brain development and the nervous system. Small fishes can be beneficial. You should also avoid taking fish fry because it has high oil content in it.

Raw sprouted crop

Sprouted crop contains bacteria such as Salmonella and E.coli. This bacteria can enhance the germination of the crops that could affect your fetus. So, you can take boiled crops that provide you with energy.

Dates

It contains a high amount of iron. But, it will promote your body heat. As a result, your uterus will be contracted which could affect your fetus. You can take 1 or 2 dates per day.

Coffee During Pregnancy

Coffee contains compound caffeine which is also present in chocolates which is not good for pregnant women. Because it can limit fetal growth and it could also cause the low birth weight of the baby.

Sugar-rich foods

Consuming a high amount of sugar during pregnancy is not good for both mother and baby’s health. Therefore, pregnant women should avoid high intake of sugar during nine months of pregnancy.

Unwashed Fruits and Vegetables

Unwashed fruits and vegetables can have harmful pesticides and bacteria in their skin. So, rinse it thoroughly in water to avoid harmful side effects.

Unpasteurized Dairy Products

Unpasteurized dairy products can have bacteria known as Listeria. This Listeria causes Listeriosis dangerous infection that can lead to miscarriage.
